Formula Challenge Japan (FCJ) is a brand new developmental Junior Formula Car race collaborated in 2006 by three global manufactures; Toyota, Nissan, and Honda. The philosophy is, 'Finding and raising young talented drivers who can compete worldwide'and 'Raising the talented people who can extend the roots of Japan's motor sports and support our future'. Most top level drivers in the world have experienced and overcame many difficulties in their young driving experience. Many racing schools and scholarship systems, founded by car manufactures, help them grow. In Japan, that system was founded individually by the manufactures, but to more extent, FCJ is the race category that was founded to raise the drivers qualitatively throughout the actual races.
In FCJ, in order to focus the training on the driving technique, all cars will be managed either to one-make or prohibited to reconstruct any original model. Including the car set-up, racing car's efficiency is the most important aspect in making the decision of the race. But there will be no those gaps in FCJ races.
As a result, the driver's technique and the efficiency of analysis and training become better, therefore, the result will be clear.
Throughout the series, the scholarship will be given to any excellent drivers in order for them to step up to the higher level (i.e., F3), and those who had received a scholarship have established a marvelous racing career in races such as Japanese Formula 3 and British Formula Renault championship. FCJ will be the closest step for the young drivers to train their driving skills and prove their abilities to the highest category.
