What's FCJ TOP > System |
|
 |
| FCJ will be managed by Japan Race Promotion (JRP), which is sponsored by Toyota, Nissan, and Honda.
JRP is a managing organization of the nation's top Formula Car Race, Formula Nippon, and FCJ department in JRP will operate FCJ.
The 2008 season will be held as support races for Formula Nippon, which will kick off at Fuji Speedway in April 4th,
and total 8 events, 16 races will be held at four circuits in the nation. By giving open test opportunities at the beginning of each race weekend,
the total driving distance will pile up approximately to 8000 km, and drivers will gain high-level driving experience throughout the season. |
 |
Drivers must be less than 26 years old, and cannot have race experience higher than Formula 3 class.
Participation is accepted by each season one-by-one. In 2008, the maximum number of the participants is 27.
Currently, FCJ is the only formula car category that has 27 cars participating in a single race.
With this many participants, the race becomes more competitive, and the drivers will learn more experience.
Drivers will be publicly recruited, and will be selected by FCJ.
Besides that, each manufacture has the priority to select the driver,
and it will be decided by the race schools or auditions, which each manufacture owns.
By the past result, 9 from FTRS (Formula Toyota Racing School) drivers for Toyota, 4 from the audition for Nissan,
and 4 from SRS-F (Suzuka Racing School-Formula) for Honda will automatically participate. Therefore, 10 public drivers will be selected. |
 |
| Scholarship will be given to any excellent drivers.
In 2008, it will likely be placed by each manufacture based on their driver development programs.
Because Toyota limits the scholarship to the drivers selected from their own program,
public drivers will be able to earn it from either Honda or Nissan.
Scholarships include the steps to higher category for next year and re-qualification of FCJ for next year. |
 |
FCJ will prepare the race cars and lend them to the drivers.
Car maintenance is conducted by FCJ staffs. Besides the week of the race,
cars will be kept in the garage, carried out to the circuit at the time of the race or the test.
None of the participants will be allowed to drive on their own.
Drivers will not use the same chassis and engine all season long, but will alter machines, a process called "shuffle".
Car maintenance will be conducted by FCJ official staffs based on the menu.
Extra maintenance caused by unexpected damages and troubles will be repaired after the approval of FCJ.
FCJ will solely have the technical inspection of the machines carried into the circuit and confirm that the equal condition is maintained. |
 |
| Participation fee for 2008 season is 8,000,000 yen (without tax),
and it includes 2,000,000 yen for crash deposit. Fees include
all basic ones that relates to the race such as car
rentals or tires. Crash deposit is use to repair damages,
but the difference will be refunded
after the end of the season. |
